Partner Engineer Lead

Partner Engineer Lead, Japan

We’re looking for a Partner Engineer to work with Slack’s ecosystem of platform partners in Japan. You will work directly with external teams to help them build apps on our platform, from defining integration use cases to how it interacts with our APIs. You will advocate for our developers’ needs internally and work closely with our Business Development team to build and scale the third-party app ecosystem for Slack in Japan. Additionally, you’ll get to know our developer community by giving talks and workshops.

Partner engineering requires people with technical backgrounds who loves helping people solve problems and has a strong product sensibility. This role would appeal to someone who loves coding and is passionate about connecting with developers. You enjoy helping people solve problems, writing code samples, and speaking at events.

Responsibilities

  • Work with our largest partners on crafting the best possible experiences for joint users
  • Be an expert on Slack’s platform capabilities and app design patterns
  • Collaborate with Slack product, engineering, and other colleagues to build new features, improve the platform, and grow the app ecosystem
  • Support partners at scale by creating code samples, documentation, and tools

Requirements

  • 3+ years of partner/sales engineering, software engineering, product management, or developer advocacy experience
  • Excellent communication skills in English and Japanese; you can break down and explain a complex technical issue in simple terms for a variety of audiences
  • Willingness to speak publicly; you aren't shy of other people
  • Experience operating within cross-functional teams (product, engineering, design, and marketing)
  • Passionate about Slack, our platform, and the problem we are solving
