Software Engineer, Developer Effectiveness

Slack is looking for engineers to design and build tools and solutions that will give our engineers greater control over internal systems while improving their ability to deliver software in a sustainable manner, quickly.

This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated engineer who is excited by the prospect of working on greenfield projects while working to improve the long term sustainability of Slack’s engineering model. Engineers at Slack work in a highly collaborative environment, and that is particularly true within Developer Productivity where we are focused on improving the working lives of our fellow engineers across the company. About the Role

What we do:

  • We shape and refine data driven processes and tooling to support a healthy, productive and enjoyable way of iterating on and delivering code at Slack.
  • Participate in the team on-call rotation, triaging and addressing production issues as they arise.

Projects you might work on:

  • Improve internal control of critical systems.
  • Implement solutions that help us stay up to speed and pace ahead of our incredible growth.

You might be a good fit if:

  • You are a strong communicator. Explaining complex technical concepts to designers, support, and other engineers is a skill you’re excited to flex.
  • You have curiosity about how things work.
  • You’re interested in problems at the intersection of culture and code.

Qualifications:

  • You have strong documentation, collaboration and communication skills.
  • You have a pragmatic approach to software development and working understanding of one of the following languages: PHP, Python, Ruby or JavaScript; experience in Java or C is applicable as well.
  • You have exposure to working with Linux systems and virtualized environments (AWS, GCE).
  • You are comfortable with command line interfaces and Git.
  • You are comfortable with REST API’s
