Software Engineer, Customer Experience Operations Engineering

As a Software Engineer on the Customer Experience Engineering team, you’ll be building the products and tools that ensure our customers have an effortless experience and get the most out of Slack.

CE Operations plays a meaningful role in providing tools, processes, analytics, and programs for our industry-leading CE department. We need your help to build phenomenal experiences for our department.

You will collaborate closely with leadership, project managers, CE agents, and partners to spec, build, test, and deploy solutions. You’ll approach each project with efficiency, quality, and scalability in mind.

What You Will Be Doing

  • Develop internal tools for Customer Experience.

  • Write, debug, and deploy code to production in a timely manner.

  • Participate in code reviews.

  • Work on diverse problems that require an analysis of many factors.

  • Manage projects from start to finish, including time estimations, development, testing, documentation, and deployment.

  • Participate and contribute in stand-ups, sprint planning, and retrospectives at the team level and up.

  • Proactively identify and propose solutions that build scalable implementations and achieve results.

  • Work collaboratively across other engineering organizations to ensure best practices and processes are followed.

  • Build positive relationships with all team members and cross-functional partners.

What You Should Have: 

  • You care deeply, genuinely and passionately about a customer's experience of our product and support, and about the role it plays in making a customer-centric team successful.

  • Excellent knowledge of React, HTML, CSS, Javascript, PHP, and MySQL.

  • You can lead technical discussions and help drive technical decisions.

  • You actively work to improve in areas where you’ve received feedback and you readily give feedback to teammates.

  • You write understandable, testable code with an eye towards maintainability.

  • You possess adept computer science fundamentals: data structures, algorithms, programming languages, distributed systems, and information retrieval.

  • Curiosity about the latest technologies, research, and trends.

  • Strong analytical and creative problem solving skills.

  • Explaining sophisticated technical concepts to other technical or non-technical team members is no problem for you.

  • Outstanding written skills with a knack for technical documentation.

  • Self-­awareness, a positive attitude, empathy, and a desire to continually improve.
