Name changes are sometimes needed for a variety of personal and professional reasons. Whatever the case may be, as an Owner or Admin of a Workspace or an Org, you have the option to edit the full name, display name, or username fields for your members.

Workspace level
Workspace Owners can make name changes for members of their individual workspace:
From your desktop, click your workspace name in the top left.
Select Administration, then Manage members.
Click the three dots icon to the right of the member's name you'd like to edit.
Click Edit info.
Enter the new full name or display name and click Save.
Organization level
Org Owners can make name changes for members of any workspace connected to the org:
From your desktop, click your workspace name in the top left.
Select Administration from the menu, then Manage Organization.
Under Organization, click Members
Find the member you'd like to update, and click their full name.
Click Edit Profile.
Enter the new full name, display name, or username and click Save Changes.
Note: You can't edit accounts that have the same or a higher role than you. (E.g., if you're a Workspace Owner, you can't change another Owner's account or the Workspace Primary Owner's account.)
When single sign-on is enabled
If your workspace uses single sign-on (SSO), you'll need to allow members to change their display names so that you'll have the option to edit them. Learn how to access your SSO settings.
Tip: Workspaces with SAML-based SSO can update members' names from within the identity provider (IDP). Changes will be refreshed the next time the members sign in to Slack.
