Workflow Builder offers a simple set of tools to automate routine processes into workflows in Slack. A workflow is an automated version of a multi-step task or process.
By default, all members of a workspace (but not guests) can create workflows. After you publish a workflow, any member of a channel can use it, including guests and members of another organization in a shared channel.
No matter your job, you can create workflows in Slack to help streamline your work:
Once you’ve come up with an idea for a workflow, you can start building it on the Slack desktop app. When your workflow is live, you might consider adding a short set of instructions to the channel topic so it’s easy for members to learn more about the workflow.
If a channel has workflows added to it, any member of that channel can launch those workflows from the Slack desktop or mobile app. Depending on how you’ve set up your workflow, members may be able to launch it from the channel’s actions menu, or it will start automatically based on an action they take — like joining a channel or using a certain emoji reaction.
Manage workflow creation
On the Standard and Plus plans, Workspace Owners and Admins can choose to restrict workflow creation to Owners and Admins or Owners, Admins, and certain members of their workspace.
On the Enterprise Grid plan, Org Owners and Admins can disable Workflow Builder for all workspaces in their organization. If Workflow Builder is enabled, Org Owners and Admins can set an org policy determining access, or choose to let individual Workspace Owners and Admins manage access at the workspace level.
