Manage file uploads and canvas sharing for Slack Connect

By default, members can upload files and share canvases in Slack Connect channels and DMs, but owners and admins can adjust this permission. 


Manage file uploads for Slack Connect

Pro and Business+ plans

Enterprise Grid plan

Workspace Owners can decide if members can upload files to Slack Connect conversations. 

  1. From your desktop, click your workspace name in the sidebar.
  2. Select Tools & settings from the menu, then click Workspace settings.
  3. Click the Permissions tab.
  4. Next to File uploads for Slack Connect, click Expand.
  5. Check or uncheck the box to manage file uploads.
  6. Click Save.

Org Owners and Org Admins can decide if members can upload files to Slack Connect conversations. They can also set specific file upload permissions per external organization. 


Manage file uploads for your organization

  1. From your desktop, click your workspace name in the sidebar.
  2. Select Tools & settings, then click Organization settings.
  3. Click  Slack Connect in the sidebar, then select Settings.
  4. Next to File uploads, click Edit.
  5. Check or uncheck the box next to Enable.
  6. Click Save Setting.


Manage file uploads per external organization

  1. From your desktop, click your workspace name in the sidebar.
  2. Select Tools & settings from the menu, then click Organization settings.
  3. Click  Slack Connect in the sidebar, then select Connections.
  4. Select an organization.
  5. Next to File sharing, click Edit.
  6. Select an option, then click Save.

  4. Next to Canvases in Slack Connect, click Expand.
  5. Check or uncheck the box to manage canvas sharing.
  6. Click Save.
