Manage file uploads and canvas sharing for Slack Connect

By default, members can upload files and share canvases in Slack Connect channels and DMs, but owners and admins can adjust this permission. 


Manage file uploads for Slack Connect

Pro and Business+ subscriptions

Enterprise Grid subscription

Workspace owners can decide whether members can upload files to Slack Connect conversations. 

  1. From your desktop, click your workspace name in the sidebar.
  2. Select Tools & settings from the menu, then click Workspace settings.
  3. Click the Permissions tab.
  4. Next to File uploads for Slack Connect, click Expand.
  5. Tick or untick the box to manage file uploads.
  6. Click Save.

Org owners and org admins can decide whether members can upload files to Slack Connect conversations. They can also set specific file upload permissions per external organisation. 


Manage file uploads for your organisation

  1. From your desktop, click your workspace name in the sidebar.
  2. Select Tools & settings, then click Organisation settings.
  3. Click  Slack Connect in the sidebar, then select Settings.
  4. Next to File uploads, click Edit.
  5. Tick or untick the box next to Enable.
  6. Click Save setting.


Manage file uploads per external organisation

  1. From your desktop, click your workspace name in the sidebar.
  2. Select Tools & settings from the menu, then click Organisation settings.
  3. Click  Slack Connect in the sidebar, then select Connections.
  4. Select an organisation.
  5. Next to File sharing, click Edit.
  6. Select an option, then click Save.
