Sr. Manager, Media Productions

As the Sr. Manager of Media Productions at Slack, you will lead a team of engineers and vendors who specialize in delivering outstanding live events for internal employees and external audiences. Slack is a global company, so the technologies that deliver video and audio connectivity to the company are essential to making our employees more productive and our customers more successful. 

In this role you will work with the Director of Go To Market & Operations, who is based in San Francisco and part of our Business Technology organization. The team provides the technology and IT Support that makes our employees more productive including, but not limited to video conferencing, live event support, SaaS application management, Sales solutions, help desk and integrations with Slack and other tools. You must enjoy and excel at team building and development, as well as collaborating across functional teams. Technical expertise and a passion for innovation are crucial for this role, but you'll balance that with a desire to show your creative side through the live events that your team runs. 

Responsibilities:

  • Grow a high performing A/V team through mentorship, training, and direct feedback. 
  • Deliver outstanding internal and external live shows and events, from all hands to guest speakers and performers. 
  • Deliver a seamless video conferencing experience throughout our global offices.
  • Pursue user-impacting issues with the grit and determination needed to see them through to resolution. 
  • Lead the team in root cause analysis and communication externally when things break, and guide the team in making the right design changes to prevent the same things from breaking twice.
  • Lead the team in the development of the technology strategy for our live events stacks. 
  • Ensure the continued development and improvement of the events request pipeline. 
  • Use data to find trends and drive continuous improvement through collaboration with your peers in all areas of Business Technology, and throughout the company. 
  • Effectively connect with internal and external partners on a regular basis regarding progress on projects, performance and potential business risks. 
  • Establish and maintain relationships with our vendors and suppliers. 

Requirements:

  • 4+ years of experience in a technical leadership position. 
  • 8+ years in A/V engineering roles, either in people leadership or as an individual contributor. 
  • Experience leading a team across multiple locations (ideally globally).
  • Desired experience building a pipeline for event requests.
  • Demonstrated ability to excel in a people leadership role.
  • BA/BS, or meaningful experience, is required.
  • Experience in a multifaceted, fast-growing environment.
