Revenue Manager

San Francisco


Reporting to the Director of Revenue Accounting Operations, this person will be part of the Revenue team that promotes consistent revenue recognition practices and ensures that Slack reports revenue in accordance with generally accepted accounting practices.

The Manager will be a technical lead and help drive the company’s effort to adopt the new revenue standard (ASC 606), which includes implementing a revenue accounting automating system, authoring accounting position papers, and working with stakeholders to establish internal controls.

As part of the Revenue Accounting team, the manager will also be a key stakeholder in designing processes and implementing systems that streamline our quote to cash process to support our high-growth core business and new business initiatives.

The manager is expected to coach and mentor revenue analysts to support billing, order management, non-standard contract deal structuring (Deal Desk) and revenue accounting’s monthly close.

The role will interact externally with customers and internally with Sales, Business Operations, Billing Systems, and Legal.   • Lead ASC 606 transitional activities
  • Participate in contract negotiation in collaboration with Sales, Legal and Business Ops teams
  • Work closely with Business Systems and Engineers to design an effective Order to Cash process and system
  • Identify issues that may result in adverse revenue recognition impact and work with respective teams to address root causes
  • Train business partners while working closely with them to ensure consistency in application of Revenue policies and practices
  • Help establish Standalone Value of Slack’s services
  • Ensure Revenue is accurately recorded, including appropriate revenue allocation as required by the new revenue standard



  • Bachelor degree in Finance, Accounting or similar degree required
  • At least 7 years of relevant accounting, finance or revenue recognition experience
  • Involved with ASC 606 projects, including impact and gap assessment and/or managed ASC606 transitional activities
  • Working knowledge of ASC 605 (including Software Revenue Recognition SOP 97-2 (ASC985-605) and multiple element arrangements EITF 08-01 (ASC605-625).
  • Advanced Excel skills (vLookup, pivot tables, etc.)
  • Experience with revenue automation tools (RevPro, Rev Stream, Netsuite Advance Revenue Management, etc.) a plus
  • Experience in Slack platform a plus
  • Experience with Netsuite a plus
  • Excel in working across various cross-functional teams
