Slack Connect: Provide guidelines for members of your organisation

Org owners and admins can include guidance for their members to follow when requesting Slack Connect channels or using Slack Connect.

Instructions for creating Slack Connect channels

Add custom instructions for your members to see when they request to create a Slack Connect channel or accept an invitation.

Add instructions

  1. From your desktop, click on your workspace name in the top left.
  2. Select Settings & administration from the menu, then click on Organisation settings.
  3. Click  Slack Connect in the left sidebar, then select Settings.
  4. Next to Instructions for creating Slack Connect channels, click on Edit.
  5. Select Link to add a link to existing documentation, or select Text to input instructions into a text field.
  6. Click on Enable instructions.


Edit or disable instructions

  1. From your desktop, click on your workspace name in the top left.
  2. Select Settings & administration from the menu, then click on Organisation settings.
  3. Click  Slack Connect in the left sidebar, then select Settings.
  4. Next to Instructions for creating Slack Connect channels, click on Edit.
  5. To edit, make your changes, then click Save. To remove instructions, click on Disable instructions.


Guidelines for using Slack Connect

Include specific guidelines for members to follow when they join a channel or start a direct message (DM) with people outside your organisation.

Add guidelines

  1. From your desktop, click on your workspace name in the top left.
  2. Select Settings & administration from the menu, then click on Organisation settings.
  3. Click  Slack Connect in the left sidebar, then select Settings.
  4. Next to Instructions for creating Slack Connect channels, click on Edit.
  5. Select Link to add a link to your guidelines, or select Text to input them into a text field.
  6. Click Enable guidelines.


Edit or disable guidelines 

  1. From your desktop, click on your workspace name in the top left.
  2. Select Settings & administration from the menu, then click on Organisation settings.
  3. Click  Slack Connect in the left sidebar, then select Settings.
  4. Next to Guidelines for using Slack Connect, click Edit.
  5. To edit, make your changes, then click Save. To remove guidelines, click Disable guidelines.
