Record audio and video clips in Slack

Who can use this feature?

Record audio and video clips in Slack to communicate easily with your team, regardless of their time zone or location. You can use clips to share ideas and updates, or just say hello. Anyone in a channel or direct message (DM) can play clips, and reply in thread with a clip of their own.

What to expect

  • You can record clips up to three minutes in length from Slack on desktop or mobile, and share your screen while recording video clips from the Slack desktop app or Slack in a browser.
  • Anyone watching a video clip can turn on captions if they like, and all clips are automatically transcribed. To read a transcript, click on the  three lines icon on any clip.
  • Clips follow the same retention policy as other messages in Slack. If you have permission to delete messages, you’ll be able to delete clips that you’ve recorded.
