Allow additional organisations to join a channel

If you use Slack Connect to work with people outside your company, you can add additional organisations to join one of your existing channels.

Let additional organisations join a channel

  1. From your desktop, open the channel that you want to allow additional organisations to join.
  2. Click on the  details icon in the top right.
  3. Click on Organisations and select Share channel.
  4. Tick the box next to Let additional organisations join this channel.
  5. Click Done.

Anyone who is from the organisation that owns the channel and has permission to manage channels using Slack Connect will be notified if you allow additional organisations to join it. They'll receive a DM from Slackbot to let them know that they can invite additional organisations to join the channel

Tip: to check which organisation owns the channel and which organisation was invited, open the channel, click on the  details icon and select Organisations

Note: Book a free 20-minute call with a Slack expert to help you get started on working with your external partners in Slack.
