Allow additional organisations to join a channel that you're sharing

Channels shared with Slack Connect before 24th June 2020 are limited to two organisations by default. To add other external partners, someone from the invited organisation must allow the channel to be shared further. The organisation that owns the channel can then invite other organisations to join it.

Tip: to check which organisation owns the channel and which organisation was invited, open the channel, click on the  details icon and select Organisations

Let additional organisations join a channel

  1. From your desktop, open the channel that you want to allow additional organisations to join.
  2. Click on the  details icon on the upper right.
  3. Click Organisations.
  4. Select Share channel.
  5. Tick the box next to Let additional organisations join this channel.
  6. Click Done.

Anyone who is from the organisation that owns the channel and has permission to manage shared channels will be notified if you allow additional organisations to join it. They'll receive a DM from Slackbot to let them know that they can invite additional organisations to join the channel
