Block file downloads and message copying on Enterprise Grid

Org owners on Enterprise Grid can enable desktop and mobile security features to safeguard sensitive business data in Slack. Org owners can choose to block file downloads (desktop and mobile devices) and message copying (mobile devices only).

 

Block file downloads on desktop

Org owners can block file downloads from unauthorised locations by only allowing downloads from specific IP address ranges.

  1. From your desktop, click on your workspace name in the top left.
  2. Select Settings & administration from the menu, then click Organisation settings.
  3. From the left sidebar, click  Security, then choose Security settings.
  4. Next to Downloading and copying content click Edit.
  5. Tick the box next to Block file downloads on desktop.
  6. Under Allowed IP ranges for downloads, enter any IP ranges that you’d like and click Save.



Block file downloads and message copying on mobile devices

Org owners can block all file downloads and message copying on mobile devices that aren’t managed by an Enterprise Mobility Management (EMM) provider.

  1. From your desktop, click on your workspace name in the top left.
  2. Select Settings & administration from the menu, then click Organisation settings.
  3. From the left sidebar, click  Security, then choose Security settings.
  4. Next to Downloading and copying content, click Edit.
  5. Tick the box next to Block file downloads and message copying on
    mobile and click Save.

Note: For devices managed by EMM, you can enable this setting via KV pair in AppConfig.
