Manage notifications for specific channels and direct messages
Notifications in Slack are designed to keep you informed, whether you’re at your desk or on the go. To get notifications about the things that you care about the most, you can set notification preferences for specific channels and direct messages (DMs) with three or more people.
Tip: You can mute conversations to turn off notifications, allowing you to read new messages when you want.
Configure conversation-specific notifications
In channels and DMs with three or more people, you can choose to be notified about every new message, just mentions or nothing. Here’s how:
Desktop
Mobile
Open a channel or group DM.
Click on the details icon on the upper right.
Click on More, then select Change notifications.
Choose your notification preferences and whether you want to use different settings for your mobile device.
Click on the close icon in the top right when you've finished.
From a channel or group DM, tap the details icon.
Tap Notifications.
Choose your preference for the conversation.
Note: If you choose to be notified only about mentions, the box next to Also include @channel and @here will be ticked by default. You can untick this box if channel posting permissions or messaging permissions have not been restricted for your workspace.
Review conversation-specific notifications
You can view a list of channels and group DMs with conversation-specific notification settings (including muted conversations) from your preferences.
