If you use Slack calls to make voice or video calls in your workspace, there are a few preferences you can manage to tailor your audio and video in Slack.
Select your default camera
From your desktop, click your profile picture in the top right.
Select Preferences from the menu.
Click Audio & video in the left-side column.
Under Camera, open the drop-down menu to select an option.
Set your microphone preferences
You have a few options for microphone preferences:
Select a default microphone
Enable automatic gain control to ensure your voice stays at a constant level for others on the call
Manage your microphone preferences
From your desktop, click your profile picture in the top right.
Select Preferences from the menu.
Click Audio & video in the left-side column.
Under Microphone, open the drop-down menu to select an option.
If you’d like, check or uncheck the box to manage automatic gain control.
To test your microphone, say a few words and check that the input level moves up and down while you're speaking.
Select your default speaker
From your desktop, click your profile picture in the top right.
Select Preferences from the menu.
Click Audio & video in the left-side column.
Under Speaker, open the menu to select an option.
Set your Slack calls preferences
You can set the following preferences for Slack calls:
Automatically set your status to 📞 On a call when you're on a call
Always join Slack calls with your audio muted
Manage your Slack calls preferences
From your desktop, click your profile picture in the top right.
Select Preferences from the menu.
Click Audio & video in the left-side column.
Below When joining a Slack call, check or uncheck the boxes to set your preferences.
