Manage permissions for automated messages

By default, all members of a Slack workspace can create automated messages that are sent in response to certain keywords or phrases. Workspace Owners and Admins can restrict this in workspaces they manage.


Allow or restrict automated messages

Free, Pro, and Business+ plans

Enterprise plans

  1. From the   Home tab, click Admin in the sidebar. 
  2. Select Workspace settings from the menu. 
  3. Click the Permissions tab. 
  4. Next to Automated messages, click Expand
  5. Check or uncheck the box next to Allow automated messages
  6. Click Save.
  1. From the   Home tab, click your organization name in the sidebar.
  2. Hover over Tools & settings, then select Workspace settings from the menu. If you manage more than one workspace, choose one from the drop-down menu. 
  3. Click the Permissions tab. 
  4. Next to Automated messages, click Expand. 
  5. Check or uncheck the box next to Allow automated messages
  6. Click Save.
