To help you focus on your most important notifications, set specific people as VIPs to make their messages stand out.

Add or remove VIPs
When you add VIPs, messages that they send in channels, direct messages (DMs) and group DMs will appear in the VIP unread messagessection at the top of your sidebar. You can add up to 300 people, from both your organisation and external organisations, as VIPs.

Click your profile picture in the sidebar.
Select Preferences from the menu.
Click VIP.
Search for and select the person that you’d like to add. To remove a member from your VIP list, click Remove.
Tap your profile picture.
Tap VIP.
Search for and select the person that you’d like to add. To remove a member from your VIP list, click the remove icon.
Customise notification sounds for VIPs
Once you’ve added people as VIPs, you can customise your preferences so that notifications from VIPs have a sound that is distinct from other notifications.

Click your profile picture in the sidebar.
Select Preferences from the menu.
Scroll down to Sound & appearance.
Select an option from the drop-down menu under Notification sound (VIP messages only).
Tap your profile picture.
Tap Notifications.
Tap VIP system options, then select your notification preferences. (If you’ve already set a notification sound, tap Sound to change it.)
Allow notifications during do not disturb
You can set notifications from your VIPs to always be delivered, even when do not disturb (DND) is enabled.

Click your profile picture in the sidebar.
Select Preferences from the menu.
Click VIP.
Tick or untick Always allow notifications from VIPs.
Tap your profile picture.
Tap Notifications.
Tap the toggle next to Always allow notifications from VIPs.
Filter VIP activity
In Activity, you can filter your notifications to only see updates from VIPs. When viewing all activity, unread notifications from your VIPs will appear at the top of the feed.
