Manage Slack AI settings

Who can use this feature?

Slack AI is a paid add-on that allows members of your organisation to summarise conversations, get answers to questions and more using a set of generative AI tools built directly into Slack. When you purchase Slack AI, your members can use all the features immediately – but you can limit access by adjusting settings and permissions.

Don’t have Slack AI yet? Purchase it for your organisation or contact our Sales team to learn more.

Manage access to Slack AI features

Owners and admins can also manage access to the following Slack AI features:

  • Send feedback to Slack
When your members use Slack AI, they can rate responses in order to improve the experience. You can choose to limit your members’ ability to provide detailed feedback (but please note that it’s not possible to restrict sharing basic feedback).
  • Recap
Enable or disable daily recaps, automated summaries of channels that your members choose.
  • Files in search answers
By default, AI search answers will reference most types of files (e.g. canvases, lists, PDFs and more) shared in Slack. If you like, adjust what kinds of files are cited as sources in AI answers.
  • Huddle notes
Restrict access to Slack AI huddle notes.
  • Translations
Decide if people can automatically translate messages in Slack.
  • File summaries
Slack AI will summarise certain files uploaded to Slack by default, but you can disable this functionality.
  • Workflow Builder
Choose whether your members can use Slack AI to create workflows.

Tip: If you're on Enterprise Grid, enable enterprise search so that your members can find information and content from other sources (like Google Drive, GitHub and more) directly in Slack.
