Allow additional organizations to join a channel

If you use Slack Connect to work with people outside of your company, you can add additional organizations to join one of your existing channels.

Let additional organizations join a channel

  1. From your desktop, open the channel you'd like to allow additional organizations to join.
  2. Click the  details icon in the top right.
  3. Click Organizations and select Share Channel.
  4. Check the box next to Let additional organizations join this channel.
  5. Click Done.

Anyone with permission to manage channels using Slack Connect, from the organization that owns the channel, will be notified if you allow additional organizations to join it. They'll receive a DM from Slackbot to let them know they can invite additional organizations to join the channel

Tip: To check which organization owns the channel and which organization was invited, open the channel, click the  details icon, and select Organizations

Note: Book a free 20 minute call with a Slack expert to help you get started working with your external partners in Slack.
