Create a channel
Channels are the best way to keep conversations about various projects, topics or teams organised in Slack. There’s no limit to how many unique channels you can have in Slack – go ahead, create as many as you like!

Create a channel
If you have permission to create a channel , follow the steps below or see how it works .

From your sidebar, click the Channels header and select Create a channel.
Give the channel a name , then click Next .
C hoose a channel type ( public or private ), then c lick Create .
Add people to the channel or click Skip for now .
Tap the Home tab at the bottom of your screen.
Below Channels in your left sidebar, tap Add channel .
Choose Create channel .
Enter a channel name .
Add a description , choose a channel type ( public or private ) or tap the box to share the channel outside your company.
Tap Create in the top-right corner to finish.
Tap the Home tab at the bottom of your screen.
Below Channels in your left sidebar, tap Add channel .
Tap the plus icon in the bottom-right corner.
Enter a channel name .
Add a description , choose a channel type ( public or private ) or tap the box to share the channel outside your company.
Tap Create in the top-right corner to finish.
How it works
Note: By default, members can create channels and multi-channel guests can create private channels. Workspace owners can change these permissions . If you can’t create a channel, find a workspace owner and ask for help.
Who can use this feature?

Create a channel
Follow the steps below to create a new channel.

Click the plus button in the sidebar.
Select Create a channel . If you're on Enterprise Grid, select a workspace from the dropdown menu.
Give the channel a name , then click Next .
C hoose a channel type ( public or private ), then c lick Create .
Tap the Home tab at the bottom of your screen.
Below Channels in your left sidebar, tap Add channel .
Choose Create channel .
Enter a channel name .
Add a description , choose a channel type ( public or private ) or tap the box to share the channel outside your company.
Tap Create in the top-right corner to finish.
Tap the Home tab at the bottom of your screen.
Below Channels in your left sidebar, tap Add channel .
Tap the plus icon in the bottom-right corner.
Enter a channel name .
Add a description , choose a channel type ( public or private ) or tap the box to share the channel outside your company.
