Slackbot is always willing to help, whether it's through a direct message (DM) or in a channel with your teammates. You can use Slackbot to add customised automatic responses or to access personal reminders and tasks.
Note: it's not possible to turn off all notifications from Slackbot. If you're having trouble with too many messages or customised responses, get in touch with an owner or admin for help.
Add customised automatic responses
You and your teammates can add a variety of customised responses to use in channels. When members use your chosen unique words and phrases, Slackbot will respond.
If an owner or admin has enabled this option, you can add customised responses from the
Customise your workspace page.
For example, some workspaces add a customised response to help people to remember the office Wi-Fi password. You can even use emoji or image links – images will expand in-line when Slackbot responds. All your created responses will be labelled as customised response in Slack.
Note: Customised Slackbot responses will post in channels and your personal DM, but not in DMs with other members or channels shared with external organisations.
Access personal reminders and tasks
Once you've set a reminder for yourself, Slackbot will be the one to alert you.
To set a reminder, you can use the /remind command – it works anywhere in Slack (even on mobile too!).
If you see something in Slack that you want to save for later – such as an interesting message, file or conversation, perhaps – click on the More actions icon, hover over Remind me about this and choose when you want Slackbot to remind you about the message.
