Slack profiles make working together easier: members can share helpful details, such as their time zone or job title, so that others can see them at a glance. With custom profiles, you can create new profile fields for any purpose to share even more details, like location, start date, social profiles and more.
Note: To add or edit customised profile fields on the Enterprise Grid subscription, you must be an org owner or org admin. Customised profile fields will appear in all workspaces in your org.
Add customised profile fields
From your desktop, click your workspace name in the top left.
Select Settings & administration, then Customise [workspace name].
On the Customise your workspace page, select the Profile tab.
Click Edit your workspace's profile fields. This will open the Customise profile page.
To add a new field, click on Create a customised field.
Choose which type of field to create.
Customise your field to include a Label and a Hint, and any further options for the field type.
When you’re finished, click Create.
Here’s an overview of the kinds of fields that you can add to your workspace's profiles:
Text will create an open text field for members to fill out.
List of options will show a drop-down menu of the options that you include.
Link gives members the option to add a URL, such as a link to a social profile.
Date can be used to show things such as start dates and birthdays.
Person provides a list of members, including Slackbot.
Once created, custom fields are instantly available to your workspace but do not appear in profiles until members fill them out.
Rearrange or remove profile fields
On the Customised profile fields page, you can easily edit or change the order of your workspace's profile options.
Click on to hide or delete a customised field.
Click on and drag a field to change the order in which it appears.
