Customize member profiles

Slack profiles make working together easier: members can share helpful details at a glance, like their time zone or job title. With custom profiles, you can create new profile fields for any purpose to share even more details, like location, start date, social profiles, and more.

Available profile fields

Here’s an overview of the kinds of fields you can add to your workspace's profiles:

  • Text will create an open text field for members to fill out.
  • List of options will show a drop-down menu of the options you include.
  • Link gives members the option to add a URL, like for a social profile.
  • Date can be used to show things like start dates and birthdays.
  • Person provides a list of members, including Slackbot.

Once created, custom fields are instantly available to your workspace, but do not appear in profiles until members fill them out.

Note: To add or edit custom profile fields on the Enterprise Grid plan, you must be an Org Owner or Org Admin. Custom profile fields will appear in all workspaces in your org.
