Manage permissions for the Slack analytics dashboard

The Slack analytics dashboard provides key insight into how your team uses Slack. Workspace owners and org owners can choose to restrict access to the analytics dashboard. On paid subscriptions, they can also choose to disable member analytics altogether.


Choose who can view the analytics dashboard

Pro and Business+

Enterprise Grid

By default, all members (but not guests) have access to analytics. If they like, workspace owners can limit access to owners and admins:

  1. From your desktop, click on your workspace name in the top left.
  2. Select Settings & administration from the menu, then click on Workspace settings.
  3. Select the Permissions tab.
  4. Find Workspace analytics, then click Expand.
  5. Open the drop-down menu to select who will be allowed to access analytics.
  6. Click on Save.

By default, all members have access to analytics. If they like, workspace owners can limit access to owners and admins or disable the Member tab of the analytics dashboard:

  1. From your desktop, click on your workspace name in the top left.
  2. Select Settings & administration from the menu, then click on Workspace settings.
  3. Select the Permissions tab.
  4. Find Workspace analytics, then click Expand.
  5. Open the drop-down menu to select who will be allowed to access analytics.
  6. If you’d like to disable member analytics, untick the box next to Enable member analytics.
  7. Click on Save.

Org level

Set an org policy for analytics access

By default, members can view analytics for any workspace that they belong to. If they like, org owners can set an org policy to limit access to the analytics dashboard to owners and admins for every workspace in their org.

  1. From your desktop, click on your workspace name in the top left.
  2. Select Settings & administration from the menu, then click on Organisation settings.
  3. Click  Settings in the left sidebar, then select Organisation policies.
  4. Select the Permissions tab.
  5. Find Stats viewing and click Add policy.
  6. Tick the box and click Save policy.

Note: Only org owners and org admins can access the org-level analytics dashboard. These permissions cannot be adjusted.


Disable member metrics

If they like, org owners can choose to disable the Member tab of the analytics dashboard for every workspace in their org.

  1. From your desktop, click on your workspace name in the top left.
  2. Select Settings & administration from the menu, then click on Organisation settings.
  3. Click  Settings in the left sidebar, then select Organisation settings.
  4. Click the toggle next to Member analytics to enable or disable this feature.


Workspace level

If an org policy hasn't been set, workspace owners can limit access to owners and admins for the workspaces they manage:

  1. From your desktop, click on your workspace name in the top left.
  2. Select Settings & administration from the menu, then click on Workspace settings.
  3. Select the Permissions tab.
  4. Find Workspace analytics, then click Expand.
  5. Open the drop-down menu to select who will be allowed to access analytics.
  6. Click on Save.
