Email app for Slack

Install the Email app to your workspace to automatically route emails from any provider to channels and direct messages (DMs) in Slack.

Tip: To send emails to Slack without installing an app, members of workspaces on any subscription can create a unique email address for any channel

Install and configure the Email app

When you install the Email app to your workspace, you’ll create individual configurations to route emails to different conversations. Follow the steps below to install and configure the Email app. To send emails from more than one address to the same channel, or send emails to additional channels, you can set up additional integrations.

  1. Go to the Email app page in the Slack App Directory.
  2. Click on Add to Slack
  3. Next to Post to channel, click on the drop-down menu and select a channel or DM from the list.
  4. Click on Add email integration. Slack will generate a unique email address to forward emails into the conversation that you’ve specified.
  5. If you like, add a label, customised name and icon or emoji so that anyone can easily identify emails sent to your conversation.
  6. Click on Save integration

Note: The header and body of an email sent to Slack cannot exceed 1 MB, or 30 MB when combined with attachments. Emails can include up to 20 attachments.

Update or remove configurations

To change or remove a configuration, follow the steps below:

  1. Visit the Email app page in the Slack App Directory.
  2. Click on the Settings tab at the top of the page.
  3. Below Configurations, find the configuration you’d like to update.
  4. Click on the  pencil icon.
  5. Make any changes you want, then click on Save integration. To remove your configuration entirely, click on Remove in the top-right corner of the page. Then click on OK to confirm.

Note: If you no longer want the Email app to forward messages into Slack, remove all app configurations using the steps above.
