Accept an invitation to share a channel

With Slack Connect, you can share a channel with external organizations, allowing you to work together from your separate workspaces. If another organization has invited you to share a channel, keep reading for details on accepting the invitation.

What to expect

  • Someone from the organization that owns the channel will send you an invitation. If multiple people from your organization receive an invitation to share the same channel, only one person needs to accept it.
  • Invitations expire after seven days. If your invitation expires before it’s accepted or approved, ask someone from the organization that owns the channel to send you another invitation.

Note: To accept an invitation, your organization must be using one of Slack’s paid plans. If you're using the free version of Slack, learn how to upgrade your workspace, or choose the option to start a free trial when you accept an invitation.

If the member from your organization who accepted the invitation doesn’t have permission to manage shared channels, a request will also be sent to your organization for approval.

Note: If you no longer need to work in a shared channel, you can remove your organization.
