Edit and manage your workflows
If you’ve built a workflow, or you’re a workflow collaborator, you can make changes to it.

Edit a workflow
If you need to modify a workflow, you can edit it at any time. When you’re done editing, publish the changes to make them available to anyone who needs to use it. Here’s what you can do:

Choose a new trigger
Select a different trigger to change how your workflow starts.

Modify workflow steps
Add and remove steps, or change how steps work.

Change a workflow title, description, or image
Add a new name, description, or custom image.

Unpublish a workflow
For larger changes, you may want to unpublish your workflow. This will make your workflow temporarily unavailable, allowing you to make bigger updates and re-publish when the new and improved version is ready.

Delete a workflow
Permanently remove a workflow from Slack.

Change permissions
Update who can use and copy your workflow.
Choose another way for a workflow to start
- From your desktop, click your workspace name in the top left.
- Select Tools from the menu, then click Workflow Builder.
- Select a workflow from the list.
- Click the pencil icon next to the trigger.
- Choose a new trigger and follow any setup prompts, then click Save.
- Click Publish Changes.
Change or remove steps
- From your desktop, click your workspace name in the top left.
- Select Tools from the menu, then click Workflow Builder.
- Select a workflow from the list.
- Click the pencil icon next to the step you’d like to change. To remove a step, hover over the pencil icon, then click the trash can.
- Make your changes, then click Save.
- Click Publish Changes.
Tip: To re-order steps, hover over the pencil icon, then click the up arrow or down arrow.
Update a workflow name, description, or image
- From your desktop, click your workspace name in the top left.
- Select Tools from the menu, then click Workflow Builder.
- Select a workflow from the list.
- Click the workflow name to edit the workflow details.
- Make your changes, then click Save.
Unpublish or delete a workflow
- From your desktop, click your workspace name in the top left.
- Select Tools from the menu, then click Workflow Builder.
- Select a workflow from the list.
- Click the three dots icon in the top right.
- Select Unpublish or Delete from the menu, then click Unpublish or Delete to confirm.
Note: If you unpublish or delete a workflow, it will stop running for anyone currently using it. Deleting a workflow is permanent and cannot be reversed.
Change permissions
- From your desktop, click your workspace name in the top left.
- Select Tools from the menu, then click Workflow Builder.
- Select a workflow from the list.
- Click the three dots icon in the top right.
- Select Settings, then click Edit.
- Open the dropdown menu below Who can run this workflow or Who can copy this workflow to make a selection.
- Click Save.
