Mute channels and direct messages

For greater control over your notifications, you can mute specific channels and direct messages (DMs) Muting conversations allows you to read conversations when you want, without receiving notifications for new activity.

How muting works

  • Muted channels and DMs are grayed out at the bottom of your channel list.
  • You won't be notified of new activity, but you'll see a numbered badge 1 in your channel list if a someone mentions you or the channel, and in your DM list if someone sends you a message.
  • The  Threads view will appear bold if a teammate creates or replies to a thread from a message you've sent in a muted conversation.
