Upload a profile photo

Your profile photo helps your team know who you are in Slack. And if your photo is clear, it'll be easier for someone to pick you out in a crowd or a meeting!


Add a profile photo

  1. From your desktop, click your profile picture in the top right.
  2. Select Profile from the menu.
  3. Click Edit profile.
  4. Under Profile photo, click Upload an Image.
  5. Select a photo.
  6. Adjust the framing, then click Save.
  7. Click Save Changes.
  1. Tap the  You tab at the bottom of the screen.
  2. Tap View profile.
  3. Tap Edit Profile.
  4. Tap the profile picture in the top left.
  5. Take a photo or upload one from your device.
  6. Crop the photo if you need to, then tap Choose.
  7. Tap Save.

  4. Tap the profile picture in the top left.
  5. Take a photo or upload one from your device.
  6. Wait a moment for your profile to update.
  7. Tap the  close icon in the top left.

Say cheese! Your profile picture should be a minimum of 512x512 pixels, but no larger than 1024x1024 pixels.

Note: If your Slack email address is the same one used for your Gravatar account, your Slack profile picture will be your Gravatar. If you'd like to change your photo, upload a new one to Slack.


Remove a profile photo

You can remove your profile photo from Slack on the desktop app or browser, but it's not currently possible to do this from our mobile apps.

  1. From your desktop, click your profile picture in the top right.
  2. Select Profile from the menu.
  3. Click Edit profile.
  4. Below your photo, select Remove photo.
  5. Click Yes, Remove Photo.
  6. Click Save Changes.

Note: Your profile photo may be viewable to people outside of your workspace — for example, to help identify you to invited members or in a shared channel
