Google Calendar for Team Events for Slack

Google Calendar for Team Events, including support for all existing configurations, is being retired on 10 September 2024.

Use the Google Calendar for Team Events app to post event notifications from your team's shared calendars to a Slack channel. 


Connect a shared calendar to Slack

  1. Visit the Google Calendar for Team Events page in the Slack App Directory. If the app hasn't been added to your workspace yet, follow the prompts to install it. 
  2. Select Connect a Calendar to Slack
  3. Choose which calendar you'd like to post in Slack. 
  4. Select the channel that your calendar will post to. 
  5. Customise the notifications that you'd like to receive. 
  6. Click Save integration
  7. Select I've finished to finish. 

Note: To connect additional shared calendars to your workspace, repeat the steps above for each calendar that you want to post in Slack.


Use Google Calendar for Team Events in Slack

Once a shared Google Calendar is connected to Slack, you can configure the app to post any of the following updates in the channel that you've specified: 

  • A summary of daily events at a specific time
  • A weekly summary of events on a certain day of the week
  • Notifications when events are created, about to start or details have changed


Adjust notification settings

You can adjust which types of calendar activities trigger notifications in a channel:  

  1. Find Google Calendar for Team Events in the Slack App Directory.
  2. Locate the calendar that you'd like to update, then click the  pencil icon
  3. Scroll down to What would you like to post?
  4. Update your notification preferences. 
  5. Click on Save.  

 

Disconnect a calendar

  1. Find Google Calendar for Team Events in the Slack App Directory. 
  2. Locate the calendar that you'd like to update, then click the  pencil icon
  3. Click  Remove in the top right corner. 
  4. Select OK
