Manage profile fields synced with SCIM

With Slack's SCIM API, you can automatically sync information about members in your identity provider (IDP) or internal directories with their individual Slack profiles.

Once connected, the profile fields you choose to sync — attributes like title, role, address and so on — can’t be edited by members in Slack, so profile details stay consistent and clear for everyone.

Note: Choose from a list of 25 common profile fields that can be mapped to members’ profiles in Slack.

Hide profile fields

You can select certain profile fields and hide them from members and Guests. Admins and Owners can view these fields on members' Slack profiles.

  1. From your desktop, click your workspace name in the top left.
  2. Select Settings & administration from the menu, then click Customize [workspace name].
  3. From the Customize Your Workspace page, select the Profile tab.
  4. Click Edit your workspace's profile fields
  5. Click the  gear icon next to the field you want to hide and choose Hide. Profile fields will need to be synced before you can hide them.

Change a field's label

Change the label of any profile field sent to Slack from your IDP and make them more user-friendly for your members.

  1. From your desktop, click your workspace name in the top left.
  2. Select Settings & administration from the menu, then click Customize [workspace name].
  3. From the Customize Your Workspace page, select the Profile tab.
