Rename a channel
A channel's name gives people a better idea of what it's used for, but over time, things can change. At any point, you can rename an active channel.
The details
- Workspace Owners and Admins can rename any public channel and private channels they've joined. They can also rename the #general channel.
-
Channel names can have a maximum of 80 characters, must be lower case, and can't contain spaces or periods and certain words.
- Members can only rename channels they've created.
- An archived channel must be unarchived before its name can be updated.
Note: In an Enterprise Grid org, only Workspace Owners/Admins and Org Owners/Admins can rename multi-workspace channels.
