If you’d like to any view files in Slack offline, you can download them to your desktop. On your mobile device, you can only download image files.
Note: It’s not possible to download files from Slack that are stored in file management tools, like Box, Google Drive, or OneDrive.
Download files from your workspace

From your desktop, find the file you’d like to download. You can locate the file in the conversation where it was shared or click File browser at the top of your left sidebar (if you don’t see this option, you can find it by clicking More).
Click the download icon.
When your file starts to download, you'll see a notification in the bottom-right corner of Slack. Click the file name to open the file. To show the file in your computer's Finder or Explorer, press Shift as you click the file name.
Tap the image you'd like to save.
Tap the three dots icon.
Tap Save Image.
Tap the image you'd like to save.
Tap the three dots icon.
Tap Download.
View all downloads
To view a list of files you've downloaded from Slack on your desktop, follow the steps below:
From your desktop, click your profile picture in the top-right corner.
Select Downloads from the menu.
When you hover over a file, you can choose to open it, show it in your computer's Finder or Explorer, or clear the download.
Tip: You can clear all your downloads by clicking the clear downloads icon at the top of the Downloads window.
Manage your default download location
You can change your default location for downloading files from Slack on your desktop at any time.
From your desktop, click your profile picture in the top right.
Select Preferences from the menu.
Click Advanced.
Under Download location, click Change and select your preference.
Note: You can only change the default download location for files if you downloaded the Slack app directly from the Slack downloads page.
