You can browse files that have been added to your Slack workspace and easily share them to other channels and direct messages (DMs). You can also create external links to share files outside of Slack.
Browse files in your workspace
From your desktop, you can browse files added to any public channels, plus the private channels and DMs that you're a part of. From the Slack iOS app, you can only browse files that you’ve added.

From your desktop, click on File browser at the top of your left sidebar. If you can’t see this option, click on More to find it.
To find a specific file, click on Filter on the right side of the search bar and select an option.
From the Home tab, swipe right to open the main menu.
Tap Files to view files that you’ve added to your workspace.
Note: At the moment, it's not possible to browse files from the Slack Android app.
Share files in Slack
To add detail and context to conversations, you can easily share a file that's been added to Slack in channels or DMs. If the file was added with a message, you can choose to share the message that contains the file or just the file itself.

Hover over the message or the file itself.
Click on the Share icon.
Choose where to share the file and add a message, if you like.
Click on Share.
Tip: You can also copy a link to a file or message. Click on the Share icon, then click on the Copy link button.
Tap and hold the message or file that you want to share.
Press the Share icon.
Choose where to share the file and add a message, if you like.
Tap Send.
Tap and hold the message or file that you want to share.
Press the Share icon.
Choose where to share the file and add a message, if you like.
Press the paper plane icon in the top right corner of the screen.
Share files outside Slack
To share a file outside of Slack, you can create an external link from your desktop. Here's what to expect:
For files shared in public channels, any member can create an external link.
For files shared in private channels, only the person who uploaded the file can create an external link.
The person who uploads a file can revoke its external link at any time.

From your desktop, hover over the file that you want to create a link for.
Click the More actions icon.
Select Create external link.
Copy the link to your clipboard, then click Done.
From your desktop, hover over the file that you want to revoke a link for.
Click the More actions icon.
Select View external link.
Click Revoke then click Revoke it.
Note: If you can’t see the option to create an external link, you may be attempting to create an external link for a file shared from another service, like Box, Google Drive or OneDrive. A workspace owner or admin may have also disabled this feature.
