When you work with your team in Slack, you may need to collaborate on files that you’ve created in other services from time to time. Add files to your workspace to share and discuss them in Slack.
Drag and drop up to 10 files into the message field, or click the paper clip icon next to the message field and choose where to add a file from.
Include a message about the file(s) if you'd like. If you don’t need to include a message, you can upload the file immediately by holding the Shift key as you drag and drop it into Slack.
Send the message.
Open a channel or direct message (DM).
To add up to 10 photos, tap the image gallery icon. To add a file, tap the file with clip icon to add a file already shared in Slack, then tap Add a File to upload a file from your device.
Add a message about your file(s) if you'd like.
Tap the paper plane icon to send.
Tip: Looking to add a file to a thread? Tap the thread to open it, tap the blue arrow, then tap the file with clip icon.
Open a channel or direct message (DM).
Tap the image gallery icon to add up to 10 photos, or tap the file with clip icon to add a file already shared in Slack. To upload new photos or files, tap the mountain icon in the bottom right corner of the screen after choosing a file type.

Tap the paper plane icon to send.

Note:Conversations using Slack Connect may have restricted permissions for uploading and sharing files. If you're unable to add files to these conversations, find an owner or admin and ask for help.
File previews
In conversations, Slack will include a preview of the file as part of your message. If it's an image file, the preview will display inline as long as it's smaller than 11,000 pixels on the longest side, or less than 45 million pixels total. Keep in mind that Microsoft Office files that are larger than 50 MB will not display a preview.
Add files from Box, Dropbox, Google Drive, or OneDrive
Once a file management app has been added to your workspace, you can add files to Slack by clicking the paper clip icon to the right of the message field, then selecting your preferred app. Visit an article below to get started:
