Pricing guide for Slack Workflow Builder

On 25th September 2024, we ended usage-based billing for Workflow Builder. All workflows, no matter which steps they contain, will be included in the cost of your paid Slack subscription. The previous pricing structure for workflows is outlined below.

Note: Customers with an outstanding balance for premium workflow runs on 25th September will not be charged. If you worked with our Sales team to purchase premium runs, contact your Account Executive for more details.

How it worked

  • Workflows were categorised as either standard or premium. Standard workflows could be run an unlimited number of times without incurring additional charges, while premium workflows run after you’d reached your subscription’s included allotment were billable.
  • The type of steps (Slack steps, connector steps or custom steps built by developers in your organisation) added to a workflow determined whether it was standard or premium. Standard workflows included Slack steps and up to one connector step, while premium workflows included at least one custom step or two or more connector steps.

Former subscription allotments

Before ending usage-based billing, paid Slack subscriptions included an allotment of premium workflow runs, and additional runs were chargeable. These were the allotments per subscription:

Subscription Premium workflow runs Cost per additional run
Pro 1,000 runs/month £0.05/run
Business+ 2,000 runs/month £0.05/run
Enterprise Grid 5,000 runs/month £0.05/run

FAQ

Do I need to change Workflow Builder creation permissions?

Yes, if you want to ensure the members of your workspace or Enterprise Grid organisation can continue to build workflows. Follow these steps to update permissions for your workspace or org.

Can I still view and monitor workflow usage?

You can view all of the workflows in your workspace or org from the workflow dashboard, but will not see the number of runs or type of workflow (as we’re no longer distinguishing between standard and premium workflows, or keeping track of usage for billing purposes).
