Navigate using the Quick Switcher

The Quick Switcher is the fastest and simplest way to get around in Slack. Use it to quickly jump between channels, direct messages (DM), and even multiple workspaces.


Overview

  • Find channels, messages, and files all in one place
  • Switch quickly to channels you’re mentioned in or to unread DMs
  • See frequently visited channels and DMs at the top of the list


Use the Quick Switcher

From your desktop, press K (Mac) or CtrlK (Windows/Linux) and start searching:

Find a channel

  • Start typing its name. To show only public channels, type # before you enter the name.

Open a direct message or group DM

  • Start typing a teammate's name. To show only direct messages, type @ before entering a name.

Switch to another workspace

  • Type the workspace's name (only available on the Enterprise Grid plan).

Use  , , Tab, or scroll through the list. Once you’ve found what you're looking for, press Return to open it.

Swipe from left to right to open the channel list, then use the Jump to field to search for specific channels or DMs.
