Supplier Code of Conduct
Last updated May 1st, 2019
Slack Technologies, LLC, including any entity, affiliate or subsidiary owned or controlled by Slack Technologies, LLC (“Slack”) strives to do business in the highest ethical, empathetic, and courteous manner. We operate in many countries and are subject to different laws, customs, and practices, and as such we depend on our suppliers and other business partners to act in the same accord.
We cannot cover every situation that may arise in this Supplier Code of Conduct, so we ask that you, as our supplier, be thoughtful and ethical. Slack will assess a Supplier’s commitment to compliance with these requirements when making procurement and sourcing decisions.
The Supplier Code should be viewed as the minimum standards that we expect from our supplier community. It is not intended to reduce, replace or limit any other legal or contractual obligations that you have to Slack.
Be Ethical
Never attempt to improperly influence Slack business decisions. Bribes, kickbacks, any bartering arrangements, or change in terms of the contractual relationship to obtain or retain Slack business is strictly prohibited.
The use and management of Slack’s proprietary or confidential information that is not generally known to the public is vital to the company’s competitive position and must be handled responsibly. This may include, but is not limited to:
- Financial information or positioning
- Information technology
- Sales forecasts, marketing plans, or customer lists
The company will pursue legal action for remedy on any deviation on proprietary and confidential information.
Be Responsible
Slack has a zero-tolerance policy to human rights offences and we expect our Suppliers to feel the same way when it comes to protecting vulnerable workers. Slack Suppliers must, at the very least, follow all applicable laws and regulations in respect of human rights violations such as human trafficking, child labor, forced or compulsory labor and involuntary prison labor.
We expect our Suppliers to respect employee rights in respect of working hours and conditions, freedom of association, collective bargaining and the payment of fair compensation in line with local laws and regulations, and where such laws do not exist, to act responsibly to ensure that such employees are compensated at a level which allows them to meet their basic needs as human beings.
Be Human & Safe
Slack thrives as a diverse, equal opportunity workplace and expects suppliers to hold the same sentiment. Harassment and discrimination in any form will not be tolerated.
Be Transparent
Do not engage in dealings that are a conflict of interest. Suppliers, suppliers’ subcontractors, or any representatives must not deal directly with any Slack employee whose spouse, domestic partner, or other family member or relative is employed by or holds a financial interest in the Supplier (other than publicly traded securities). Suppliers must disclose any such relationship or other potential conflicts to their Slack business contact for review as soon as the issue becomes known.
Do Not Give Gifts to Influence Slack
Do not offer, provide, or solicit gifts or entertainment that might compromise a Slack employee’s judgment or independence. If a Slack employee requests such gifts please report it to Slack. This includes, but is not limited to:
- Cash, cash equivalents, such as gift cards, gifts or charitable contributions individually or cumulatively valued at more than $150 in any one year; and
- Entertainment that is lavish or that takes place in a location inconsistent with Slack’s values
